Hand application is possible, but further efficiency can be obtained by using a dual-action polisher. For vehicles in poor condition with many water stains and minor scratches, you can wax and lightly polish at the same time by applying both RD Wax (Paste Type) and a compound to a buffing pad. Conversely, if you want to create a glossy, waxed appearance, you can apply a solid wax or liquid wax at the same time to achieve your desired finish.
