Duraveil
Performance of Duraveil
Greatly Reduce the Frequency of Maintenance Using a Film with an Antifouling Property
Although many types of coating products currently exist for auto body protection, we focus on paint protection films (PPFs), which have become increasingly preferable in the global market.
After a PPF is applied, water stains are more readily present on its surface. Thus, using wax, sealants, and cleaners to remove water stains every 2 to 3 months is necessary. Otherwise, the water stains will lead to black stains and the PPF will deteriorate.
Duraveil is different from existing glass coatings for PPF, as it creates a secure protective glass shield over the film without affecting the softness of the PPF. It thus provides a longer period of protection, which means frequent maintenance is no longer required. Simply washing the car with car shampoo is sufficient.
Best Match for Polyurethane Materials
Polyurethane is used in PPFs but its weakness is that dirt can remain on the surfaces of PPFs more easily than on painted surfaces. Our Duraveil directly deals with this problem by creating a glass layer that is effective with polyurethane. We developed Duraveil based on developments of auto body coatings. We conducted long-term field tests and selected the best materials to work effectively with polyurethane, which has completely different properties than those of painted surfaces.
Value of the Glass Coating and its Anti-fouling Property
PPF is different from painted surfaces in that it is made of very soft material. Existing ultra-hard glass coatings are not suitable for PPF formation. Therefore, for the coating to achieve the expected performance is difficult. In addition, although wax and emulsion coating do provide temporary protection, they can be degraded by dirt.
Polysilazane is used as the base of Duraveil, and it is the only non-crystal type of glass coating. We have developed methods for making it effective without damaging films. As a result, the PFF is developed with a high anti-fouling property. Moreover, a better stain-resistant condition can be achieved through the self-washing function of the hydrophilic layer.
Protective Coat Enabled by the Non-crystal Property
The non-crystal glass coat of Duraveil becomes silica glass, as perhydro-polysilazane (PHPS) reacts with air moisture. The mass of crystal types such as silane decreases during transformation into glass because of its volatility. However, the mass of PHPS, unlike the crystal types, grows during the transformation, and it creates a density-balanced glass layer with ultra-high density.
